We have a lot of equipment that was made in Germany and Italy. It's a long story....
We've had a few of them with gearbox issues lately, and since the equipment is 10-20 years old, it is not easy to get it fixed or get parts. But it's been hard to find someone here in the US that knows about gearboxes and gears who can rebuild parts.
Anybody have a gem of a mechanic/machinist who seems to be able to lay his hands on heavy machinery and heal it? Or at least make a part for it by waving a magic wand?
Thankfully we did get a replacement part for the crane from Germany, but we're still thinking about fixing the gearbox for the mixer on a nauta ourselves. If there were a reasonably priced Merlin out there.....

I'll ask our mechanic, he replaces those sometimes (ha, maybe it's not much of a fix) . He's real hands on Russian type though so I don't know how much of it is a part he bought and how much of it is a part he bought then grinded &melted & whatevered til it worked.
