For this week, we think of the cheese that caused a political uproar, the start of uniformity in cheese, some beef to go with that cheese, and trans fat being removed by (where else) California.
Now we will consider the origins of food named for a beloved grandchild, a candy that is out of this world, and a food from the New World that was the subject of an oft-quoted line from a fantasy tale from Middle Earth.
This week, we see the start of two trademarks: one that became a comic legend and the other that was for a candy that brought a breath of fresh air. But we need to recall the other news, which was due to some tainted beef.
